Safety tips for the family
Open spaces only
Light crackers outdoors, away from vehicles, dry leaves and anything that can catch fire.
Keep water close
Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby and drop used sparklers into it.
Adults supervise
Children should always light crackers with an adult present.
Light at arm's length
Use an agarbatti or long candle, and step back as soon as the fuse is lit.
Never relight a dud
If a cracker fails to go off, wait, then soak it in water. Never try to relight it.
Cotton clothes
Wear cotton clothes and footwear. Avoid loose synthetic garments near fire.
